What a session looks like
Gentle, Not Deep — And That's the Point
MLD works on the lymphatic system, which sits just under the skin. That's why the pressure is light: pressing harder doesn't drain more, it collapses the vessels you're trying to move fluid through.
- 1
Healing assessment
We review your procedure, how many days out you are and how your tissue is responding before starting.
- 2
Opening the lymph nodes
We start away from the surgical area, clearing the nodes that will receive the fluid.
- 3
Directed drainage
Slow, rhythmic movements that guide retained fluid toward the open pathways, always respecting your incisions.
- 4
Compression & home guidance
We check your compression garment and give you specific guidance until your next session.
Before you book
Is Lymphatic Drainage Right for You?
MLD is for you if
- You had plastic or reconstructive surgery in the last months
- You have swelling that isn't going down on its own
- Your surgeon recommended lymphatic drainage
- You feel hardened areas forming under the skin
- You retain fluid in legs or abdomen
MLD is not
- A weight loss method — it moves fluid, not fat
- A deep relaxation massage
- A replacement for your compression garment
- Recommended during active infection or fever
- A single-session fix — results come from consistency
If you have a heart, kidney or active oncological condition, tell us before booking. In some cases MLD is contraindicated and we'll say so.

What it does
What Changes After a Series of Sessions
Drainage is not cosmetic. Moving retained fluid on time changes how your tissue settles — and that shows up in your final result.
Most patients notice a difference in the first two to three sessions.
- Less swelling and pressure
- Fibrosis prevention
- Better mobility
- Faster incision healing
- Reduced discomfort
- More even contour

Frequently Asked Questions About MLD
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on your procedure and how much fluid you're retaining. We assess your healing stage and recommend a schedule during your first visit — sessions are more frequent early on and space out as swelling comes down.
Does it hurt?
No. MLD uses very light pressure — most patients find it relaxing. If you feel pain, the pressure is wrong and you should say so.
Can I get MLD if I didn't have surgery?
Yes. Fluid retention, heavy legs and post-travel swelling all respond to drainage. It's just not a weight loss treatment.
How soon after surgery can I start?
Usually within the first few days, once your surgeon clears you. Starting early is what prevents fluid from settling and hardening.
